Continental Youth Championships 2027

North America’s youth Gaelic games tournament, and in 2027 it’s in New York.

What is the CYC?

The Continental Youth Championships is a youth tournament for Gaelic games clubs across North America. Under-age teams from the three GAA units on the continent (the USGAA, the Canadian GAA and New York GAA) play Gaelic football, hurling, ladies football and camogie, from the youngest age groups up to under-18.

It began in 2004 and moves between host cities, so the hosts and the travelling teams change from year to year. The organisers bill it as the largest youth Gaelic games tournament outside Ireland.

New York’s turn in 2027

Philadelphia hosted in 2026. In 2027 the tournament comes back to New York for the first time since 2014, with games from Thursday, July 29 to Sunday, August 1, 2027.

New York GAA’s chairperson Sean Price has said he expects up to 3,000 children, with their brothers, sisters and parents travelling in with them.

The venue: Redmond Park

Redmond Park in Yonkers is the home of the New York Minor Board, which runs the county’s under-age game. It is being redeveloped as the Board’s permanent home, with floodlit pitches, training areas and community space, and the last phase is due to finish in spring 2027.
